What advice would you pass on to future interns? What are the most important skills for a student to be successful at his/her internship? How could another student develop these skills prior to beginning an internship?
I think the most important skill to have for internship is being good at time management. Being able to stay occupied is important so you don't end up bored and so you can contribute more to the company. Ways to improve time management is to ask questions when stuck and to stick to a regular schedule.

Describe your POL preparation process. What presentation tools are you planning to use? Are you relying on notes, a memorized talk, something else? How are you preparing for questions you might be asked?
To prepare for my POL I just followed the example presentation and made it look nice. I made sure to put a lot of pictures so I can talk about them. I also made sure to use mostly bullet points to create a more engaging presentation. I'm not really preparing answers for questions I'm sure Ile be able to answer most questions they ask. What has surprised you most while working at your internship?
What surprised me the most was that pretty much every week they do an installation. This surprised me because I thought with all the regulations that the installations would be more spaced out. This is a good thing because doing the installations is my favorite part of my internship. What is going well with your project? What challenges are you facing?
my project is going well I've been able to help with 3 installations so far. The hardest part about them is having to wake up really early and be at the office at 7:am, besides that every install I'm able to learn more and contribute more. On Monday I helped pack a van for the install on Tuesday then we did some practice wiring the junction box. On Tuesday We went to the install site, and we were almost able to finish the array that day. On Wednesday I couldn't make it to the site so I stayed in the office and mailed out hundreds of fliers all day. Thursday and Friday were spent doing the OSHA 10 training with the cohort. The training will give us a card that some employers require for getting a job. Post the highlights from your mentor interview and explain what makes these quotes meaningful to you.
2. Yeah, this kind of work, I don't. Think you need, ah, a specific career. I know there's a lot of people who are in outreach that don't have a degree or whatnot, but something that would help is management. Um, some degree in management. Uh, people skills are big. Um, yeah, I think those are the main big things. You got to like talking to people a lot, uh, especially if you're an outreach coordinator in my position, not anymore, because they deal with clients. But I did that for like three, four years too. This quote is meaningful because he is telling us that his line of work doesn't necessarily require a specific degree, and to be successful you need to have good people skills. Who benefits from the work that you do at internship? How and/or why? the people who benifit from the work I do are the clients that qualify for free solar panels. Grid Alternatives is a nonprofit meaning that all the installations are paid for by the government or donations. However, trying to find people who qualify is challenging because they have to own their house and have a low income. And since houses are very expensive it disqualifies a lot of people.
Choose your favorite photos from your photo essay—post these highlight photos and a caption explaining what we see and what makes this significant to you. What is the name of your internship site? What does your site do?
The name of the internship site is Grid Alternatives; they install free solar panels and batteries for people who qualify. Who is your mentor? What was it like meeting them? My mentor's name is Stan, and he seems like a cool guy, and I am happy to have him as my mentor. What will you be doing during your internship? We haven't fully decided yet, but I will be doing a mix of office and work in the warehouse. Any hopes and fears for internship? I hope that I can more of an idea of what I want to do in the future. One fear that I have is that I won't have allot do you at the internship.
Some pictures below. On Wednesday I met some people in the office then I joined with the trainees, learned how to set up ladders. After that we learned how to cut wires. On Thursday I spent the whole day with the trainees installing a solar panel on the mock roof. On Friday we learned how to bend pipe and how to connect it to the breaker box. Overall, this week was fun and I didn't expect to already do this much hands on work.
